BUCKEYE CELLULOSE CORP.
The company has announced that it is dividing its business into the Specialty Cellulose Div. and the Absorbent Products Div., and three corporate operations. Paul N. Horne and George B. Ellis have been named new sr. v.p.s for commercial matters and manufacturing, respectively. The Absorbent Products Div. will be managed by new sr. v.p.s Kristopher J. Matula, commercial matters, and E. Al Eppinger, manufacturing. The corporate operations will be headed by new sr. v.p.s B. Jerry and L. Huff, for upstream research and development; David H. MEAD CORP.
Steven A. Hudson was recently named environmental mgr., in charge of pollution prevention and waste minimization for MeadÕs Publishing Paper Div. Rumford mill. Additionally, Rudolph J. Papaik was named tech. mgr., in charge of process and project engineering, process control, quality and environmental control; and Glenn D. Poulin was named pulp production mgr., responsible for mechanical and kraft pulping..

AWARDS
RHINELANDER PAPER COMPANY
Rhinelander Paper, along with Dept. of Natural Resources employee Duane Lahti, are co-recipients of the 1997 John Brogan Enviromental Achievement Award. Among many accomplishments, Rhinelander was recognized for its work with the Univ. of Wisconsin in developing a benficial use for "fibercake"-a combination of wood fibers and organic residuals from the papermaking process.
RETIREMENTS
RIVERWOOD INTERNATIONAL CORP.
Joe O. Harper recently retired as v.p. and res. mgr. of the Louisiana paper mill operations in West Monroe.
GREEN BAY PACKAGING, INC.
Paul Eads, v.p. and gen. mgr., Tulsa Div., has recently announced his retirement. Eads joined Southwest Packaging as prod. mgr. in 1977 and held that position through the merger with Green Bay in 1987. In 1995, he was promoted to gen. mgr., and he was elected a v.p. in March 1996. Jim O. Young, v.p. and gen.man., Fort Worth Div., assumes responsibility for the Tulsa Division.
OBITUARIES
Paul H. Groth and his wife Elaine died Apr. 30 in a car accident in Wisconsin. He was 77. Groth was the retired pres. and CEO of Riverside Paper Corp., Appleton.
Kenneth G. Haggerty died May 17 of cancer at age 53. Haggerty was a sr. v.p. with GilmanPaper Co.
