The company has appointed Michel J. Dumas v.p., finance and CFO.
Gaylord Container Corp.
Richard E. (Dick) Storat has been named v.p., corporate affairs. Storat was previously v.p., policy research and chief economist for the American Forest & Paper Assn. Charles S. Johnson has also been elected to its board of directors. Johnson is chairman, pres., and CEO of Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc., Des Moines, Iowa.
Mead Corp.
The company named Oliver G. "Chip" Brewer v.p., medium system, sales and marketing of the Containerboard Div. Jerome F. Tatar has been appointed pres., CEO, and chairman, effective Nov. 1. Tatar, currently pres., will replace Steven C. Mason, who will retire. Mason, who became CEO in 1992 and has been with the company for more than 40 years, elected to retire early (at age 61). He will also retire from Mead's board of directors.
INTERNATIONAL PAPER
Thomas E. Jeffry has been named gen. sales mgr. for the company's coated papers business.
Canfor Corp.
Pres. and CEO Arild S. Nielssen has resigned. Chairman Peter Bentley will assume Nielssen's duties until a replacement is found.
Fletcher Challenge Ltd.
The company's Ian Donald, CFO and a dir., and John Hood, chief exec. of Fletcher Challenge Paper, have resigned. Both were considered strong contenders for the position of chief executive of Fletcher Challenge Ltd., which recently went to Michael Andrews, following Hugh Fletcher's decision to step down. The company elected Paul Fowler divisional chief exec., Fletcher Forest.
Georgia-Pacific Corp.
The company has elected Debbie Davidoff Mescon v.p., containerboard and recycling. Mescon was previously dir., containerboard sales operations.

Obituary
Erving Paper Mills COO Phillip B. Foster died July 6. He was 65.
