LOUISIANA-PACIFIC CORP.

The Portland, Ore.-based company has appointed Curtis M. Stevens v.p. and CFO. William Hebert, who had been acting CFO, will assume the duties of dir., strategic planning. The company also announced that Ward Hubbell is the new dir., corporate communications.

ROCK-TENN CO.

Rock-Tenn Co. has made several management appointments as part of the creation of its new Paperboard Products Div. William R. Snyder, Jr. has been named gen. mgr., Macon, Ga., laminated drum plant; David J. Johnson, gen. mgr., Lynchburg, Va., converting operation; Robert E. Day, gen. mgr., Ostego, Mich., converting operation; Charles F. Glomb, gen. mgr., Rite Paper's Wright City, Mo., converting plant; Jerry T. McCluskey, gen. mgr. of the two former Davey plants in Aurora, Ill., and Jersey City, N.J.; and Jeff J. Chiesa and Stephen C. Dodd, mgr., strategic planning and costing and v.p., engineering and special projects, respectively.

The following changes have taken place in Rock-Tenn's recycled paperboard mills and recycled fiber operations: Charles Johnstone is named v.p., and gen. mgr. of the St. Paul, Minn., recycled paperboard mill and adjoining corrugating medium mill; Max O. Marsh, gen. mgr., Chattanooga mill; and Wanda M. Clossey, gen. mgr., Cincinnati, Ohio, recycled paperboard mill.

TENNECO PACKAGING

Tenneco Packaging has elected corporate v.p. Jack Lascar to lead the company's business development activities in central and eastern Europe. Stanley R. March has been named v.p., investor relations, to replace Lascar.

Eddy Paper Co. Ltd. has elected E.F. Boswell chairman of the board.

This East Granby, Conn.-based company, part of International Paper's Fine Papers Div., has promoted Mike Purdo to area sales mgr. for its Midwest Region.

William G. Mecaughey has been named permanent CFO. He had been serving as acting CFO since May.

BELCAN CORP.

The company has consolidated two formerly independent operations: its engineering and technical services groups. As a result, Michael A. Porter has been promoted to pres. and CFO; Richard J. Lajoie Jr., current CFO, has taken on the duties of chief information officer; and Mike McCaw has been promoted to vice chairman.

THE JOHNSON CORP.

The company has appointed Rudi A. Leerentveld exec. v.p. He previously was managing dir. of Johnson Holland B.V. in The Netherlands.

BELOIT CORP.

Within the paper machinery group, John Bales has been named v.p., marketing; Mike Cienian, dir., quality; Karl Deming, mgr., administration and proposal development; Charlie Ramsden, quality mgr., and Eugene Ziemba, dir., manufacturing. Beloit has appointed Randy Pedretti dir., business development and analysis for its corporate marketing and sales group, while Don Unruh is the new dir., project management, for its projects group.

The Bellevue, Ohio-headquartered company has named Linda Keesee marketing and sales coordinator.

The company, headquarted in Neenah, Wis., has made two recent appointments at its Chicopee, Mass., facility. Bob Leese has been named sr. sales rep., while Gwen Morin is new customer service specialist.

MILLENNIUM INORGANIC CHEMICALS

The company has appointed Timothy E. Dowdle v.p., global manufacturing. He will be responsible for the direction of the firm's global TiO2 manufacturing sites, engineering and quality assurance.

THE FALK CORP.

Aron Fraser has been assigned to the Northwest Territory sales staff, serving Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Gregory H. Dooley has joined the Charleston, W.Va., sales office, and will work in West Virginia, southeastern Ohio, eastern Kentucky, and western Virginia.

CONSOLIDATED PAPERS INC.

Larry D. Falstad received the Michael P. D'Alonzo Electronic Commerce Career Achievement Award from the Graphic Communications Assn. Falstad is systems development mgr. in the information systems dept. of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.-based Consolidated Papers. He earned the award for his leadership in the fields of electronic data interchange and bar codes.

TECHNICAL ASSN. OF THE PULP AND PAPER INDUSTRY (TAPPI)

Technidyne Corp. chairman and CEO S. Jerry Popson has been selected by TAPPI's Process and Product Quality Div. to receive its Technical Award and Richard S. Hunter Prize. Popson has been a player in the development of instruments and techniques to measure optical properties of paper and pulp, and is recognized worldwide as an expert in the field.

Dr. John Walkinshaw, professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts, has received the Leadership and Service Award from TAPPI's Process and Product Quality Div. Walkinshaw has devoted his entire career to education, encouraging students to work in the paper industry.

Michigan Packaging Co. and Southeastern Packaging Co. CEO Ralph V. Stoner Sr. has retired.

OBITUARIES

CHAMPION INTERNATIONAL CORP.

William "Bill" Ziegler died Aug. 25 on his 69th birthday. He worked for Champion International Corp. for 37 years before retiring in 1992.

NCR CORP.

Barrett K. Green, an inventor of microencapsulation and carbonless paper, died Aug. 28 at age 90. Green demonstrated microencapsulated carbonless paper in 1950 while with the NCR Corp. and later collaborated with Appleton Papers Inc. to commercially introduce the product in 1954. He retired in 1971 as asst. v.p. and dir. of central research for NCR.
