BASF Corp. has purchased PPG Industries' worldwide specialty chemicals business, including paper chemicals such as process chemicals, coating lubricants, and deinking products. The acquisition includes PPG's Appleton, Wis., manufacturing plant, technical laboratories, and offices.
TI Group has announced that its John Crane Group has acquired the Sealol Industrial Division of U.S.-based EG&G. At the same time, John Crane has agreed to sell its Belfab business to EG&G. Sealol is a manufacturer of mechanical seals, with a primary focus on the high-temperature segment.
Honeywell Inc. has sold its North American control valve business to DeZurik. The control valve business, located in Montgomeryville, Pa., includes Honeywell employees, supplemented
by contract manufacturing. Honeywell has also sold its SIM-Series simulation models business to KBC Advanced Technologies Inc.
Beloit Corp. has purchased the assets of Otsego Machine Shop of Otsego, Mich., excluding the building and land, to serve as a local MillPro Service Center and field service headquarters for mills in Michigan and surrounding states. Beloit will lease the building and land from the current ownership. The 20,000 ft2 facility will offer a broad range of services, including roll manufacturing, grinding, repair, and balancing and hardness testing capabilities.
Moyno Industrial Products announced that it has purchased the Hercules product line of drum screens, helix screens, and compactors from Hercules Design & Development Ltd., a U.K.-based company.
IDEX Corp., a manufacturer of fluid handling and industrial products, has agreed to acquire Knight Equipment International Inc., a manufacturer of pumps and dispensing equipment.
Tyco International Ltd., a manufacturer of industrial valves, actuators, and accessories, has announced the addition of Keystone International Inc. to its flow control group. Keystone manufactures industrial valves, actuators, and accessories for controlling the flow of liquids, gases, and solid materials.
Water Pollution Control Corp., an aeration systems and water treatment technology manufacturer, has acquired the assets of Aeration Engineering Resources Inc., a manufacturer of aeration products and systems.
BetzDearborn Inc. has announced plans to construct a new manufacturing plant in India's Bangalore region. Scheduled for completion in late 1998, the $2.7 million, 25,000 ft2 manufacturing, warehousing, and office complex will produce BetzDearborn's advanced specialty chemical products. In addition, BetzDearborn has opened a new production facility in Bogota, Colombia. The new plant includes production operations, administrative, and sales offices.
Dunsirn Industries has begun construction for a new web materials converting facility in Reno, Nev. When completed this April, the new 100,000 ft2 facility will allow Dunsirn to serve customers in the western portion of the U.S. with fast turnaround and finished rolls in as little as 24 hours.
Appleton Mills has built a new, 80,000 ft2 paper machine fabric factory to serve the Chinese and Pacific Rim markets. The facility is in Kunshan, a new industrial park near Shanghai. The project is a joint venture with the YFY Co., a producer of paper, board, and other products. The company will be known as Appleton Mills Asia.
West Penetone Corp., a cleaning chemicals supplier, has closed its Tenafly, N.J., facility and has acquired a new manufacturing plant based in Milwaukee, Wis.
To better serve the changing needs of its customers, Nalco Chemical Co. has announced a new sales and marketing structure for its worldwide operations. The company will structure its operations into six new divisions. The Industrial Division will serve the water and waste treatment needs of the paper and other industries, while the Specialty Division will provide products and services to the North American middle market. In addition, the Pulp and Paper Division will serve the process chemical needs of pulp and paper customers in North America and Europe, and the Process Division will serve those needs in all industries except pulp and paper. Other divisions include the Latin American Division, serving water and waste treatment needs in that region, and the Pacific Division, serving those needs in the Pacific region.
As part of its B2000 global restructuring, Beloit has announced the reorganization of its Bolton, England, facility. The facility will be dedicated to drying cylinder and paper machine roll manufacturing. This reorganization allows Beloit to increase production efficiency and to promptly respond to customer demands.
Voith Sulzer Finishing Div. has reorganized its sales and project management organization to provide high-quality service to its customers. The new organization combines all sales activities worldwide. The market will be taken care of by five sales and project application teams located in Middletown, Ohio, Krefeld, Germany, and Manchester, England.

The Dow Chemical Co. will invest more than $30 million over the next three years to upgrade its chelants manufacturing facility in Freeport, Texas. The improvements will increase Dow's production capabilities by more than 30% through debottlenecking
and installation of new reactors.
Dow further increased its global chelant capacity with the acquisition of the European chelants business
of Hampshire Chemical Corp. as part of Dow's acquisition of Sentrachem
Ltd., a South African-based chemical company.
Muetek Analytic has announced the opening of a Canadian branch office
in Hamilton, Ont. This office will serve as a sales and service outlet for Muetek's line of laboratory and online instrumentation.
The Johnson Corp. has recently opened Johnson Services Wisconsin Inc. to service Johnson products in Wisconsin and upper Michigan. The new center is designed to provide papermakers with solutions to paper drying problems and will offer a complete line of services, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and onsite training.
Cognex Corp.'s Surface Inspection Systems Div., a supplier of camera-based surface inspection systems to the plastics, nonwovens, paper, metals, and converting industries, has moved its Montreal, Que., office to a new expanded facility. Located at 2196 32nd Ave., in Lachine, Que., the new 15,000 ft2 facility will accommodate the manufacturing, sales, and marketing, and other operations of the division's Fine-Line Product Series.
To better serve its Maryland clients, Rust Environment & Infrastructure has opened a new office in downtown Baltimore, Md.
Environmental Resources Management, an environmental, health, and safety consulting firm, has opened a new office in Bogor, Indonesia, near Jakarta.
Nash Shanghai Ltd., a subsidiary of Nash Engineering, an international provider of vacuum pumps, is opening a factory in Jin-Shan, Shanghai.
United States Filter Corp., a company specializing in evaporation and crystallization technology, has formed an exclusive marketing agreement with Environair SIPA of Canada for the North American pulp and paper market. Environair, a company experienced in collecting, transporting, and treating noncondensible gases and transporting and treating foul condensates, will also become the sole representative of U.S. Filter/HPD in Quebec, Ontario, and the maritime provinces. The organizations' core technologies complement each other, offering pulp and paper mills solutions for meeting MACT I regulations.
Deublin Co. and Beloit Corp. have entered into an agreement that establishes Beloit MillPro Services as the sole distributor of Deublin products for pulp and paper mills worldwide. This partnership provides Beloit with a line of high-tech rotating unions, steamfits, siphons, turbulence bars, and core holding products.
ABB Industrial Systems Inc. and Yokogawa Electric Corp. have announced an alliance designed to combine products and services in order to better serve the worldwide paper industry. Under the terms of the alliance, Yokogawa Electric will be the exclusive sales and service provider for AccuRay Quality Control System (QCS) products in Japan. Yokogawa will also sell and service AccuRay products in other markets, including Asia, Latin America, and Russia.
Shower Technology Co., a division of CPI Pump & Equipment Corp. of Youngstown, N.Y., has entered into an agreement with GL&V Process Equipment Group of Orillia, Ont.,
to handle the marketing, sales, and service of its Everclean face cleaning shower systems in the U.S. and Canada.
GL&V/Black Clawson-Kennedy Pulp and Paper Machine Group Inc. announced that its winders will now be marketed featuring the slitter systems from Dienes Corp., Spencer, Mass. At the same time, Dienes Corp. has also announced that it will market its own products to include GL&V/BC-K's winders.
Industra has announced that their Northwest U.S. engineering and construction services will be consolidated at one location in Portland, Ore. In addition to traditional consulting, design, and construction services, this office will provide bundled combinations of services, such as turnkey project execution, to the paper and other industries.

Marsden Inc., Pennsauken, N.J., a supplier of gas infrared drying systems, has received ISO 9001 certification.
Rosemount Inc. is making available a royalty-free license under its "Warrior" U.S. Patent No. 5,485,400 for the manufacture and sale of Foundation field-bus compatible or HART-compatible transmitters or controllers. Rosemount states that this action further addresses process industry customers' desire for open, interoperable communication standards. The license is available only to Fieldbus Foundation and Hart Communication Foundation members.
Stowe Woodward Co., a producer of roll coverings, has teamed together with Praxair Surface Technologies, a supplier of surface coating technology, for the worldwide production of ceramic roll coverings for the paper industry. Stowe Woodward will market the ceramic press roll covering under the tradename "StoRok."
Graver Chemical has brought its various business units together under the new name of Graver Technologies. A supplier of industrial purification and filtration products, Graver Technologies will consists of four product groups: ion exchange products, adsorbent products, liquid filter products, and industrial filter products.
