United States Filter Corp. announced that it has reached a final agreement with Ahlstrom Machinery Inc. on the transfer of its Aquaflow Division, located in Glens Falls, N.Y., to U.S. Filter’ Wastewater Group.
Valmet has completed the sale of its wet laid products to North Country Technical Services, an engineering company located in Glens Falls, N.Y. These products, currently supplied by Valmet’ Hudson Falls, N.Y., facility, include hydraulic headboxes, high-dilution formers (the Deltaformer and the Rotoformer), saturators, and other components for wet laid machines.
The Andritz Group, through its affiliate Andritz Ltd., Montreal, Que., has acquired Kvaerner Hymac Inc., Laval, Que., a supplier of machines and systems for producing mechanical pulp and MDF fiberboard in Canada and other countries.
Durr Environmental Inc. has acquired the capital equipment portion of Engelhard Corp.’ stationary-source, emission-control business. Included in Durr Environmental’ purchase is a 55,000 ft2 manufacturing facility in South Lyon, Mich., as well as its related equipment and testing operations.
Bindicator Co. LLC, Port Huron, Mich., has acquired the assets of Hersey Measurement Co., Spartanburg, S.C., from Flow Measurement Inc., Atlanta, Ga. Hersey supplies flow, level, and Btu measurement instrumentation used by process industries.
Total Control Products Inc., a developer of products for the industrial control market, has announced that it will acquire SensorPulse Inc., a developer of industrial signal conditioning products and networked I/O devices.
Lincoln Industrial, a supplier of lubrication systems, pumps, and pumping stations, has completed its acquisition of Orsco Inc., a lubrication systems manufacturer located in Shelby, Mich.
Siebe plc has entered into agreement to acquire Wonderware Corp., which is located in Irvine, Calif.
Dow Chemical Co. has announced that it will increase the off-list selling price for all grades of caustic soda sold in the U.S. by $35.00 per dry short ton (basis 76% Na2O). The increase is effective immediately to all spot customers or as contract terms permit.
Rust Environment & Infrastructure (REI), Greenville, S.C., and Caribou Systems Corp., Toronto, Ont., have formed a partnership to provide customized environmental management programs. Under the agreement, REI, an engineering and program management consulting firm, will promote, implement, integrate, and support Caribou’ customized environmental management databases.
PASS U.S. Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pall Corp., and Coors Ceramics Co., a wholly-owned subsidiary of ACX Technologies Inc., have announced the formation of PCC Enterprises LLC, a 50/50 joint venture. The joint venture plans initially to manufacture high-tech inorganic membranes used in filtration and separations applications.
Intercim, a division of Effective Management Systems Inc., and CIMx have signed a strategic business alliance that will provide the marketplace with an enhanced manufacturing execution system (MES). This enhanced system will provide the ability to author process plans and compound documents. The partnership will also provide a seamless flow and control of information that now begins at manufacturing planning and extends all the way through to manufacturing execution.
Moore Products Co. has reaffirmed its alliance with Wonderware Corp. after Wonderware’ acquisition by Siebe plc. Moore’ APACS ProcessSuite delivers an integrated solution for the process industries that builds on open components of the Wonderware FactorySuite package. Siebe recognizes that Wonderware is an independent leader that provides standards-based, open technology. As such, Siebe ensures continued collaborative development and market efforts between the two.
NDC Systems and Infrared Engineering have announced that they will join forces to form the world’ largest manufacturer of online gauging sensors for the web industry. The new organization, NDC/IRE, will offer a complete range of sensors and systems for measurement of continuous web process variables.
Origin International and PID Inc. have announced an alliance to provide a total solution for organizations seeking to integrate their SAP enterprise resource planning systems with their production environments. Under the terms of the nonexclusive agreement, Origin will use PID’ EnterpriseBatch and OpenBatch software as key components of its methodology and project strategy for implementing SAP R/3 for clients who have selected a manufacturing solution based on OpenBatch.

Majiq Systems and Software, a supplier of order fulfillment systems, has recently completed an expansion of its Redmond, Wash., headquarters. With this growth, Majiq now occupies approximately 30,000 ft2 of office space used for new employees and training facilities.

Alcan Chemicals, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, has announced an expansion of its Superfine alumina trihydrate (ATH) production facility in Burntisland, Scotland. The company is investing more than $39 million in the project, which will more than double the plant’ production capability.
Omya Inc., a supplier of calcium carbonate, announced the completion a new wet processing plant and cascade mill at Perth, Ont. This plant will double Omya’ Canadian production capacity for the paper and board industry. A second wet plant expansion is underway and should be completed in mid-1998.
Beta Machinery Analysis, a consulting service organization that offers high-level machinery evaluation and optimization, has opened a new facility in the Kansas City area. Initially, personnel will focus on nonintrusive unit inspections for reciprocating engine/compressors.
BetzDearborn Inc. announced that it has begun construction of a new production plant on a 10-acre site in Pilar, Argentina. Scheduled for completion in mid-1998, the $4.5 million, 33,000 ft2 manufacturing, warehousing, and office complex will produce the company’ advanced specialty chemical treatment products for customers in Argentina and nearby countries.
Eka Chemicals Inc., Akzo Nobel’ pulp and paper chemicals business unit, will consolidate its bleaching chemicals and paper chemicals divisions’ technical and administrative operations in a newly designed building. This facility, located in Marietta, Ga., will house bleaching, recycling, specialty peroxides, and paper chemicals laboratories to improve technology delivery and communication with North American customers.
