In the Converting Div., Todd Borkowski has joined the company as safety, health, loss prevention, and environmental coordinator; and Jon Sonnenberg has been promoted to operations scheduling shift supervisor. Connie Federwitz has been promoted to corporate support services supervisor In the Forest Resources Div., Richard Kayser has been named procurement forester, Todd Krause has been promoted to tree farm forester, Joseph Schroeder has been promoted to area forest supervisor, and Jeff Tracy has been named forest products marketing forester. Kurt Hoppe has been promoted to stock process shift superintendent in the Kraft Div. In the Biron Div., Jim Czenczek has been promoted to quality control supervisor, and Ryan Kluck has been promoted to assistant paper machine superintendent, Nos. 23 and 24. Timothy Kaczmarek has been named steam and power superintendent at the Wisconsin River Div. In the Inter Lake Papers Div., Jim Purchatzke has been promoted to assistant paper machine supervisor, No. 97. In the Niagara Div., Robert DeMay has been promoted to quality control supervisor, and Joe Marcy has been named paper machine shift supervisor, No. 44. Susan Samberg has been promoted to recovered fiber coordinator at Superior Recycled Fiber Industries.

CHAMPION INTERNATIONAL

Gregory Burzell has been named Western Regional sales mgr. Burzell will be responsible for managing the team charges with sales of Champion Web coated and supercalendered papers in the Western U.S. and Canada. Jae Lee has been named coates sales rep. for Champion Web papers. Lee will be responsible for the development of new distribution business and sales. Carlton Owen, v.p., forest policy, has been reappointed by Sec. of the Interior, Bruce Babbitt to a full six-year term on the Board of Directors of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. He was originally appointed to fill an unexpired term in 1998.

WILLAMETTE INDUSTRIES INC.

Charles Floyd has been promoted to plant manager of the company’s newly acquired pulp mill in Port Wentworth, Ga.

INTERNATIONAL PAPER

Jeff Martin has been appointed to the position of district sales exec. for Strathmore Papers, part of the Fine Papers Div. Martin will promote and sell Strathmore in the Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Arkansas markets. Michael J. Balduino has been named sr. v.p., marketing and sales. Balduino will be responsible for the company’s market-based and customer focused business strategy. Balduino was formerly v.p. and GM of the company’s Foodservice Business. Bill Wyrick has been named northeast regional sales mgr., Commercial Printing Papers.

PORT TOWNSEND PAPER

Kevin Wright has been promoted to export sales mgr. In his new position, Wright will be responsible for executing export sales strategy for kraft paper, kraft linerboard, and unbleached kraft pulp.

MEAD CONTAINERBOARD DIV.

Robert A. Feeser has been appointed pres. of the Mead Containerboard Div. based in Atlanta, Ga., effective immediately. Peter H. Vogel, Jr., v.p., finance and treasurer, will add management of the purchasing and logistics dept. to his responsibilities.

ENCORE PAPER

Tom Howison has been named Midwest Regional sales mgr. Richard Shaw and Scott Kern have been named territory sales mgrs.

PASADENA PAPER

Tim McClung has been appointed to the position of national sales mgr for the company’s C1S Sales. McClung will link customer programs and issues with manufacturing technical and order fulfillment staff.

Bob Spatz has joined the company as branch mgr. In his new roll, Spatz will oversee all sales and operations of the Lansing, Ill., branch. Scott Malcolm has joined the company as branch mgr. of the Pittsburgh, Penn., office. Ruben Rosas has joined the company’s Bridgeport, N.J., branch as a sales engineer. Ricky L. McComas has joined the company’s Charleston, W.V., branch office as a sales engineer.

Paul Lackemacher has been appointed North American sales mgr. of the company, a supplier of shaftless spiral conveyors and mixers.

Melissa McDonald has been appointed to the position of sr. product safety specialist.

ADHESIVES RESEARCH

Peter D. Gabriele has joined the company as research and development group leader for the Splicing Business Unit. In this position, Gabriele directs research and development programs to meet the organization’s need for technology development, new product development, and the improvement and cost reduction of existing products and processes.

THERMO BLACK CLAWSON

Michael A. Sieron has been promoted to v.p., Sales for the company. In his new position, Sieron will be responsible for all marketing and sales functions within the company. Percy E. Brooks has been appointed v.p., Engineering and Technology. Brooks will be responsible for overseeing all engineering and project management functions as well as all research and technology developments.

Timothy Malloy has been promoted to the newly created position of operations mgr., and Robert Costagliola has been promoted to plant mgr. for the West Chester, Penn., manufacturing facility.

Steve King has been promoted to regional sales rep. In his new position, King will be responsible for Lintern’s sales territories located in Arizona, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. He will also continue as the company’s LHD product specialist.

Jean-Pierre Gravel has been appointed v.p., sales and marketing for Kronos Canada. Gravel will be located at the company’s offices in Montreal.

Albert G. Luke has been named pres. of the recently consolidated DMD-Roots Div.

Stan Parton has joined the company as director of business development. Parton will be working out of the Atlanta, Ga., office.

Steve Crass has been named v.p., marketing. Crass will oversee corporate-wide product marketing, advertising, and public relations activities.

Greg Kubisiak has joined the company as a consultant to the Hexacomb honeycomb Paper Mill team. Kubisiak will be based in Eau Claire, Wis.
