James F. Kelley, sr. v.p. and gen. counsel, has been promoted to exec. v.p. and gen. counsel. Stephen E. Macadam, sr. v.p.-containerboard and packaging, was promoted to exec. v.p.-containerboard and packaging. David J. Paterson, v.p.-electronic commerce, was promoted to sr. v.p.-communication papers.

FLETCHER CHALLENGE CANADA

Jan Reinas, pres. and CEO of Norske Skogindustrier ASA, has been appointed chairman of Fletcher Challenge Canada Ltd. Reinas takes over from Alexander Toldte, CEO of Fletcher Challenge Paper, who resigned with fellow director Michael Andrews following the company’s indirect acquisition. Ralph Leverton was appointed CFO and sec. of the company. The board also appointed or confirmed in new roles the following officers of the company: James E. Armitage, sr. v.p.-sales and marketing; Lawrence J. Jackson, sr. v.p.-strategic marketing and growth; W.R. (Ron) Buchhorn, sr. v.p.-human resources; Stuart H. GRAYS HARBOR PAPER

Toby Baumgardner has been named v.p. of sales and marketing, with responsibility for the Midwest and Eastern Regions. Odis Avritt has been appointed v.p. of sales and marketing for the Western Region.

INTERNATIONAL PAPER

Sharon Hirsch has been appointed to the position of district sales mgr. of Beckett Papers, part of the Fine Papers Div. She will promote, sell, and serve as a resource for paper information to printers and paper merchants for Beckett in the Baltimore, Washington D.C., and Central Pennsylvania markets.

WEYERHAEUSER FINE PAPER

Steve Dussair has been hired as an account mgr. for the Midwest Region. Dussair will be based in the Itasca, Ill., office and will handle merchant accounts in Michigan and Indiana.

YUPO CORP.

Mr. Ossamu Sasaki has been appointed pres. and CEO. Sasaki will lead the company’s North and South American operations.

MADISON PAPER

Kevin J. Kuliga has been appointed pres. of the Alsip, Ill., operations.

PASADENA PAPER

Thomas O’Brien has been hired to head the sales effort for the company’s Midwest Region, with states including Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and the Dakotas. Tim McClung has been promoted to C1S sales mgr.

Kim Szeg has been appointed mgr. of global procurement. Szeg will be responsible for the procurement of materials and services such as travel, spare parts, and capital equipment. Steve Seeb has been named mgr. of strategic sourcing. Seeb will be responsible for sourcing of all strategic materials, including ore, chlorine, coke, natural gas, oxygen, nitrogen, and energy. Clever Fonseca has been named dir. of global procurement and mining. Fonseca will focus on promoting electronic procurement with strategic partners and vendors to streamline processes, reduce costs, and boost productivity.

Mike Zlatic has been promoted to sales and marketing mgr. Zlatic will be responsible for all MAGPOWER sales and marketing activities.

Harris E. DeLoach Jr., former sr. exec. v.p. and COO, has been elected pres. and CEO, effective immediately.
