Champion International in Bucksport, Maine, has purchased multiple ArcLine showers and ArcDrive oscillators from AES Engineered Systems.

Inland Paperboard and Packaging Inc.'s New Johnsonville, Tenn., mill has ordered a new MasterJet F/B headbox with ModuleJet dilution control system from Voith Paper. Startup is scheduled for June 2001.

Boise Cascade, Wallula, Wash., has ordered a falling film crystallizing concentrator from Goslin to be installed in the mill's existing evaporator train. Installation of the falling film concentrator is the first step in upgrading the mill's existing LTV. Additionally, the new concentrator may also increase run time between water washes in the black liquor process. Startup for the new concentrator was completed in October 2000.

Weyerhaeuser has signed a long-term contract with U.S. HealthWorks, Atlanta, Ga., for a wide range of occupational health and safety products and services. The contract calls for U.S. HealthWorks to provide hearing conservation and respiratory surveillance services, occupational health data management software and support, data processing services, safety, industrial hygiene, audiology consulting services and training, as well as a number of other products through their Preventive Services Div.

Rock-Tenn Co.'s Delaware Water Gap, Pa., mill has ordered two third-generation drainage tables for its FCFormers from The FCFormtek Div. of AES Engineered Systems.

Alliance Forest Products has ordered wastepaper handling equipment and pulper feed systems from FMW-Austria for its new 1,700 tpd recycled fiber plant in Childersburg, Ala.

Weyerhaeuser has announced a project to install state-of-the-art technology at its Grande Prairie, Alta., pulp mill to further enhance environmental performance and improve operations. As part of the project, Andritz-Ahlstrom Inc. will supply a MOXY system to improve the yield of the bleached market pulp mill. For operational improvements, the continuous cooking system chip feed system will be modernized with the installation of a Diamondback chip steaming bin. The MOXY system and steaming bin are scheduled to be delivered to the mill in 2001.

Norampac Inc., Kingsey Falls, Que., has ordered a VPS 30 pressure screen from Voith Paper. The new screen will be installed in the fine screening system of the board and packaging plant.

Weyerhaeuser in Longview, Wash., has purchased Acrowood's dual drive suspended rotary screens.

Kimberly Clark in Everett, Wash., has installed Acrowood Model 4080 DiamondRoll Variable InterRoll (VIRO) fines screens.

Smurfit-Stone Container Corp.'s Cedartown, Ga., mill has ordered three Octopus stock approach systems from the FCFormtek Div. of AES Engineered Systems. The Octopus systems will be retrofitted to three conventional vats on the No. 1 paper machine.

Pacifica Papers, Powell River, B.C., has installed Acrowood Model 4080 DiamondRoll Variable InterRoll (VIRO) fines screens.

Blandin Papers, Grand Rapids, Minn., will be retrofitting its existing system to a RollCal2 measurement and RollControl CNC system from Papertech Inc.

Stora Enso's Port Hawkesbury, N.S., mill has received a Certificate of Registration for its Environmental Management System, as it applies to the manufacture and distribution of newsprint and magazine paper, under the ISO 14001 Standard.

Collins Forest Products in Klamath Falls, Ore., has installed an Acrowood Model 4048 DiamondRoll Variable InterRoll (VIRO) fines screen to replace a shaker screen.

Fraser Paper Co. in Madawaska, Maine, has ordered a vacuum control system for its No. 8 paper machine from AES Engineered Systems.

Pine Falls Pulp and Paper in Pine Falls, Man., has purchased a Model 812 dual drive suspended rotary screen from Acrowood. Pine Falls also purchased an Acrowood disc scalper, a screw distributor, and an air density separator for the operation.

Tembec in Temescaming, Que., has purchased a Model 1220 rotary screen and a Model 3096 DiamondRoll from Acrowood.

Willamette Industries, Bennettsville, S.C., has purchased a Model 8596 DiamondRoll VIRO Fines Screen from Acrowood.

Liberty Paper Inc., Becker, Minn., recorded a safety milestone July 19: 1 million hours of operation without a lost time incident since its startup in May 1995. LPI recycles more than 150,000 tons of old corrugated containers annually and employs 98.

Norse Skog Golbey S.A. in Golbey, France, set a new paper machine world speed record of 5,978 fpm with its Valmet-supplied No. 2 paper machine producing newsprint. The Golbey No. 2 paper machine was the first machine to start up at a speed higher than 4,900 fpm.

Papeles Cortillera, a company of the Cia Manufacturera de Papeles y Cartones S.A. (CMPC) Group, Chile, has contracted with Voith S.A. Maquinas e Equipamentos in Brazil for the supply of a new paper mill. The mill will be built in Puente Alto, near Santiago. Startup is scheduled for December 2001.

Companhia Suzano de Papel e Celulose's (Suzano) pulp and paper mill near Sao Paulo, Brazil, recently completed EPC activities. The project was awarded to Kellogg Brown & Root in Sept. 1999 and consisted of EPC and operational training services for the addition of two fiber recovery filters and related systems on two fine paper machines. The new facility began production on its originally scheduled day, within budget, and with a perfect safety record.
