Kris Wilke has been appointed account mgr. for the Hammermill Papers division. Wilke will represent Via by Hammermill, Britehue, Regalia, and other Hammermill premium papers. Libby Sillesen has been appointed specification sales consultant for Beckett Papers and Strathmore Papers. Sillesen will promote and sell Beckett and Strathmore paper products in the Los Angeles market.

Jouko M. Jaakkola has been appointed exec. v.p. and COO of the corporation.

Howard Cannon has been elected v.p., nonwovens sales. Douglas Dowdell has been elected v.p., nonwovens business development. Horst Gottsche-Kuhn has been elected v.p., cellulose manufacturing, Europe.

FLETCHER CHALLENGE CANADA LTD.

Russell J. Horner has been appointed pres. and CEO by the company's board of directors. In addition to his appointment as CEO, Horner has also been named president, North American region, for Norse Skog, the new 50.8 % majority owner of Fletcher.

Russell Kendrick has been promoted to v.p. and CFO., Greg Martin has been promoted to v.p. and mill mgr., Jeff Vermilyea has been promoted to prod. mgr., and Bob Amend has been promoted to fiberline mgr.

Steve Potterhas been named as the new regional sales mgr., NPP West. Potter takes over from Larry Montague, who has been promoted to the newly created position of v.p., marketing.

Thomas J. Howatt has been elected pres., CEO. Howatt will also serve on the company's Board of Directors. San W. Orr Jr., who assumed the duties of CEO upon the resignation of Daniel R. Olvey in Feb., will continue as Chairman of the Board.

Gordon B. Bonfield has been elected executive v.p. and COO.

OMNOVA

Kevin M. McMullen has been named as the new CEO of the company, effective December 1, 2000. He will replace John B. Yasinsky, who has served as the CEO since the company's creation in October 1999. Yasinsky will retire at the end of November 2000, but will continue as a director and chairman of the board.

FLOWSERVE CORP.

Howard D. Wynn has been appointed pres. of the company's newly formed pump division, created as part of the aquisition of the Ingersoll Dresser Pump (IDP) Company. Assisting Wynn with the IDP integration is Bill Ord, who recently retired from IDP as pres., engineering pumps segment. John Donatiello has been named v.p. and general mgr., engineered Americas, George Peters has been appointed v.p. and general mgr., engineered Europe, and Harry Schimmoller has been appointed v.p. and general mgr., industrial Americas. Rene Blanchais has been named v.p. and general mgr., industrial EMA. Jim Quain has been appointed to the newly created position of v.p. and general mgr., contractor sales and frontline teams. Carlos Lima retains his duties as v.p., human resources, as will Kathy Giddings, v.p. and controller, and Robert Stanbury, v.p., marketing and research and development.

Joseph F. Matthews has been appointed pres. of the corporation. Matthews joined the company as sales engineer in 1983 and was elected v.p. in 1992. Skip Hoffman has been promoted to customer svc. mgr.

Frank R. Schmeler, pres. and COO, was elected pres. and CEO of the company. Schmeler succeeds Francis L. McKone, who has announced his decision to retire.

T.J. Tarabulski and Curt Knapper have been named project engineers, advanced technologies group. Tarabulski and Knapper are responsible for designing and installing RJM ARIS Technology, a selective catalytic reduction system for reducing NOx emissions from stationary diesel and natural gas engines.

Richard J. Timoney has been named pres. and CEO of the company. Timoney replaces John Pittman, who is retiring after having served in the foundation post since 1996.

John A. McQuaid has resigned his position as pres. and CEO of the National Private Truck Council (NPTC). McQuaid will remain on as a consultant for three months to assist in the transition.

 

RETIREMENTS

Gorton M. "Buck" Evans, pres. and CEO, has retired after a 40-year career in the paper industry. Evans' last 27 years were with Consolidated, and the previous 13 years were with the S.D. Warren Co.
