BRAKE PADS
US supplier, Tribco, has introduced brake pads, which it claims can last up to five times longer than other brands. They have a 100% Kevlar fiber composite friction lining, which safeguards against damage to rotors and drums. The pads are asbestos free and operate without producing black dust, which is common with molded graphitic brake pads. The company claims the product is ideal for use on roll stands, winders, slitters, cranes and paper machine drives.
LUBRICATION
Hydrox Pipeline has announced that its Hydrox Water Removal units could improve the purity of lubricating oil in circular lubrication systems. The Finnish supplier claims that the oil's water content can be cut by 20% compared to traditional systems. The units use gravity to remove the water from the oil and a bonus is that impurities adsorbed into the water are drawn out. Water in oil is a major cause of bearing failure.
RECYCLING
A new baling press has been launched by Bode. The UK supplier says its Seromat baling press can be modified to allow loading from three sides and its capacity is between 4-8 bales/hr. Bales can weigh up to 500kg. The Seromat has retaining claws, automatic three-sided channel adjustment, automatic floor covers for needle openings and a fully-automatic tying system.
SEALS
US company, John Crane Mechanical Seals, has announced a new seal technology specifically designed for reliability and ease of installation on pumps, mixers and agitators. The company claims that its Type 3710 Cartridge Split seal can be installed on packing sleeves or directly to the shaft. This eliminates the need to dismantle the equipment for which the seal is intended.
TISSUE
Jagenberg Papiertechnik has brought a new compact roll trimming machine onto the market, as an improvement to its Vari-Soft design. The Vari-Soft II is encapsulated and, combined with improvements to its suction capabilities, should ensure a dramatic reduction in dust and machine noise, the German company claims. New mechanical and electrical components have been designed to enable the machine to operate with reduced need for maintenance. The machine is controlled by the supplier's Jagmatic system.
