The Sherwin-Williams Industrial and Marine Coatings group now designates many of its high performance waterborne coatings as members of the EnviroSpec Line. A special icon on data pages and containers marks the products as environmentally friendly. The coatings are said to perform on the same level as solvent-based coatings, according to the company. One of these products, Centurion, is a two-component, waterborne polyester urethane. This coating forms a tight, dense coating film to provide strong defense against corrosion in aggressive service environments, the US company claims.

The Swedish company, Sandvik Steel, has installed a new manufacturing line at its special metals unit in Sandviken. The line has a fully integrated production route capable of producing titanium tubes in lengths up to 28 m. The company's Swedish and American plants supply a range of tubing with an outside diameter of 6 mm to 40 mm and wall thickness of 0.4 mm to 4.5 mm, which are suitable for use in a washing and bleaching systems.

Esmil Process Systems has developed the award winning "Zero Discharge" wood pulp effluent treatment plant. The process combines conventional physico-chemical treatment with membrane technology and is available at a low capital cost with rapid investment payback, the UK company claims.

The plant produces three recyclable outputs, which are solid cake, concentrate and permeate.

The new PDFM-IV Portable Doppler Flow Meter fromGreyline Instruments is designed for flow troubleshooting and quick spot checks from outside a pipe. The strap-on ultrasonic sensor has a three-key calibration system to enter pipe diameter which it then displays, totals and logs in a choice of gallons, liters or any engineering units. The Canadian company says AC/DC operation and the built-in, rechargeable battery powers the unit for at least 24 hours of continuous operation.

RKB Opto-Electronics has launched the Model 3050 Video Web Inspection System. The system combines a high-speed 1024 pixel CCD (charge coupled device) line scan video camera with the company's signal processing technologies to achieve high resolution pinhole detection. The system's camera housing can be mounted on existing process control equipment and is capable of providing motion in the cross machine direction.

Mu Measurements has designed the fully automated Amontons II to measure static and kinetic friction. The equipment is certified to ISO 15359 and is said to feature a refined system for cutting and mounting test specimens. The cutter sizes both sled and table test pieces without touching the test surface. The US company says that specimens can be mounted without bending or folding.

The Pipeline Delumper's new seal and cartridge assembly is designed to increase versatility, precision and ease of maintenance, according to its manufacturer,Franklin Miller. The unit incorporates a multi-action processor that shreds, chops, mixes, disperses and suspends solids in fluids directly in fully enclosed pipe systems. The cartridges are available with single or double mechanical seals, high pressure lip seals, packings and other seal configurations. Built-in flush ports are also provided.

Neilsen & Hiebert Systems has added the Ragger Tail Grabber to its line of material handling and pulper auxiliary equipment. The unit is designed to retrieve broken ragger tails from the pulper at speed, utilizing fewer mill personnel. The US company says that tails can be fished without having to drain the pulper. The hoist is designed to lift up to three tons and the equipment can be mounted on an existing junk tower grapple hoist or provided as a stand-alone unit.
