  • About Bracelpa

The Brazilian Pulp and Paper Association (Bracelpa) is the association that represents the Brazilian pulp and paper industry before its audiences of interest. It seeks to maintain relationships with government agencies and officers, sister associations, representatives of other economic sectors, nongovernmental organizations, universities, schools, consumers and the media - both in Brazil and abroad. The association’s area of service encompasses sectorial negotiations, economic and industrial policies, environmental issues, climate change, and recycling, among others.

Bracelpa's activities are conducted in the sphere of an agroforestry and industrial business with highly competitive products, in a globalized, extremely active market. Its member companies account for the entirety of Brazil's pulp production and 80% of the country's paper production. These companies operate in 539 municipalities 18 Brazilian States and employ over 690 thousand direct and indirect workers.

Internationally, Bracelpa strives to disseminate messages about the sustainability of the Brazilian pulp and paper industry, which for decades has planted and harvested trees to manufacture its products, unlike most of the industry's major players, which still use native forests.

Brazil produces pulp and paper exclusively from planted forests, renewable natural resources that absorb carbon from the atmosphere. In addition to preventing deforestation, planted forests are established mostly in degraded areas and help prevent rural labor exodus.

With its headquarters in the city of São Paulo (state of São Paulo) and an office in Brasília (Federal District), Bracelpa has partnerships with the industry's State Trade Associations
