  • About the National Maritime Museum

The National Maritime Museum is a very important historical building in Amsterdam located right on the waterfront.

The museum was once the majestic warehouse of the admiralty of Amsterdam, a building built in the 17th century on a foundation of thousands upon thousands of wooden piles. In its time, it was from this building that the Dutch war fleet was supplied. Today, it is the home of the National Maritime Museum.

Currently undergoing a comprehensive restoration project, the museum is being brought back to the splendor and style intended by its 17th century architect.
