The Visy Pulp and Paper Mill located in Tumut, NSW, Australia is currently undergoing a massive expansion phase, and we are seeking to fill the position of Mechanical Engineer Pulp Mill - Power & Utilities

The primary objective of this position is to maximize the reliability, availability and efficiencies of the turbines, generators, power boiler, and associated steam systems across the Tumut site. 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical support for the maintenance of:
    • - Steam turbines and ancillaries
    • - Generators
    • - Steam generation - power boiler
    • - Steam generation and condensate recovery
  • Champion the resolution of technical issues that arise during operation for your area of responsibility
  • Contribute to the development of maintenance procedures and work instructions
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of maintenance and upgrade activities (both regular and shutdown) as required
  • Ensure compliance to statutory requirements
  • Assist with the development of the continuous improvement culture
  • Liaise with vendors and suppliers as required
  • Ensure all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner
  • Identify and participate in ongoing personal and technical development

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

The ideal candidate will have a minimum 5 years technical experience in the maintenance of turbines and steam generation systems with Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.  You will be able to demonstrate a proven ability to identify improvement opportunities in the maintenance of these systems, and to provide and implement solutions to realise those opportunities.  You will be able to lead and work effectively within high performance teams in an operating environment, and respond quickly and efficiently to challenges as they arise
