(RISI) -
Out of all the projects the editorial team at Pulp & Paper International gets excited about, the Top 50 Power List is our favorite. It gives us the opportunity to really have some fun, at the same time as highlight those individuals that have a hard-hitting influence on this illustrious industry.
You like it too! Last year we had a huge response to our very first Power List, and the comments flowed thick and fast as you gave your opinion on the personalities we picked, which included a vast range from famous authors and country presidents to R&D geniuses and heads of the NGOs - as well as of course all the nominal leaders from the major companies in the industry. To see last year's list click here .
This year is your year
This year we are just as excited. The financial turmoil has created a new dimension, and other important players and personalities have emerged from out of the woodwork. But this year is also different; we are asking for YOUR HELP and giving you YOUR SAY on who you think should be on the 2009 Power List. And it's as easy as ever, just go down to the bottom of this page, log into the forum, and give us your suggestion. You will not be alone, we already have a raft of nominees.
Remember, the personality you put forward does not even have to come from the industry, but they MUST have a big influence. For instance on the Power List last year we had a full and wide variety of people, including Dmitry Medvedev, Russia's President, on the list because of the influence he has on the country's forest products industry, JK Rowling, famous author of the Harry Potter books, chosen because of her insistence on using FSC paper for the printing of her millions of books, and at the very top of the list was perhaps our most controversial entry, Teguh Ganda Wijaya, CEO of APP, who was on the list for obvious reasons as he leads his company in an effort to become the "the premier pulp and paper group of the 21st Century".
