RISI serves an international commodities-based industry whose products are primarily subscription-based business information reports. These data-intensive reports serve all facets of the industry, including producers, suppliers and investors. The company is in the process of migrating many of its traditional print-based products to a suite of data services and productivity tools.

Job Description

We seek a senior web producer and designer with project management experience who will play a critical role in product development for a growing B2B media company. The ideal candidate is well versed in digital product definition, information architecture, and information visualization and usability, and has hands-on experience in web technologies.

Nature and Scope of Position

• This is a very hands-on role that will be responsible for designing, producing, and managing projects around web-based products.
• The candidate will need to work collaboratively in a matrix organization with all layers and departments of the corporation, working with business unit leaders, editorial staff, sales, marketing, IT, 3rd party service providers and off-shore development teams.
• Project management and product development skills a must: scoping requirements, establishing plans, directing and implementing activities related to user interface, design, GUI and IA.
• Hands on CSS, JavaScript, XML and DHTML work.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Support and manage the creative process of developing new products as well as extending and improving features for existing products, including all aspects of interface design and information architecture.
• Hands on CSS, JavaScript, XML and DHTML coding.
• Use creative and innovative approaches to enhance web user experience and facilitate understanding of data through visualization.

Technical Requirements

• Proficiency with front-end scripting including html; DHTML; JavaScript; CSS.
• Expert on Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, Capture with some flash experience.
• Experience with web application architecture and strong RDBMS understanding.
• Solid understanding of cross-platform, cross-channel, cross-browser compatibility concerns.
• Solid JavaScript coding experience and familiar with the JavaScript framework jQuery.
• Exposure to server-side scripting languages, JSP.
• Exposure to object 0riented language principles.
• Experience with web content management systems, Alfresco a plus.

General Requirements

• The candidate will require a solid combination of technical and design skills.
• Good task management skills with the ability to work in a team environment in situations in which ambiguity and multiple priorities are likely.
• Proven experience in wire-framing and process flow documentation.
• Excellent written communication skills are important as the organization is highly distributed.
• 3+ years professional Web design experience.
• BS/BA or equivalent education experience.
• A high task load is expected. You should be able to work within tight deadlines while exhibiting exemplary time management and task prioritization.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Positive attitude and professionalism in the workplace.
• A great sense of humor is always appreciated.
