Rodney Young, Chairman of the Board
Rod was appointed Chairman of RISI's Board of Directors in January 2007 upon retiring from his position as President and CEO after 29 years in the pulp and paper industry. He was formerly Senior Vice President of Paperloop's Information Products division and was also President and a founder of Resource Information Systems, Inc. His work in modeling and forecasting the international pulp and paper markets has received worldwide recognition. He holds a BS degree in Forestry from Michigan State University and an MS in Forestry Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. In addition to his role of Chairman, Rod continues to have a strong involvement with RISI as a consultant on various projects.
John Day, Chief Executive Officer
John was appointed as RISI's Chief Executive Officer in January 2007. Prior to his appointment, Day was Chief Financial Officer of CMP Media, the foremost technology and healthcare business-to-business media company, based in Manhasset, NY. Before that, he was CFO of CMP Asia in Hong Kong. As CFO he played a leading role in strategy development and implementation and was responsible for substantial support departments, as well as the finances of those businesses. Additionally, he was integral in acquiring well over a dozen businesses in Asia and in the US. Day was also formerly on RISI's Board of Directors. He is a chartered accountant and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Birmingham, England.
Rhiannon James van Beuningen, Senior Vice President, Media Products
Rhiannon James van Beuningen heads up the company's advertising and sponsorship driven businesses, including magazines, conferences, exhibitions and online advertising. Key titles in this division include the leading publications, PPI (Pulp & Paper International) and Pulp & Paper magazines. She is also responsible for the company's printing and publishing content, including the recently acquired The Seybold Report. Prior to taking on this role, Rhiannon was Vice President of Editorial Products at RISI and led the company's team of global editorial staff. She started working in the industry 10 years ago as the Associate Editor on the European newsletter, PPI This Week. She has held several different roles at the company, including Editor of PPI Magazine, Director of Product Development and Director of Online Content. Rhiannon originally comes from Wales but is based in RISI's Brussels office. She holds a first class honours degree in French and Spanish from the University of Nottingham, England.
Paul Jannke, Senior Vice President, Wood and Timber Information
Paul Jannke is responsible for RISI's portfolio of wood products and timber information, including newsletters, Forecasts, Commentaries, cost benchmarking, analytical research, and data. Prior to taking on this role, Paul was Vice President of Industry Analysis and Forecasting at RISI. In this position, he managed RISI's Wood Products, Timber, Fiber, and Asian and Latin American pulp and paper groups. As part of the management team at RISI for the past seven years, Paul has played an integral role in the strategic development of the company. In addition, he was responsible for acquiring and integrating several companies into RISI's portfolio of information products. Before coming to RISI, Paul was a research economist at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm, Sweden. Paul holds a Master's degree in economics from Boston University and a Bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Connecticut.
