Paperloop announces new Tissue World China show

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 25, 2003 - Paperloop, the premier worldwide provider of information for and about the paper, pulp, forest, converting and allied industries, today announced plans to host a new Tissue World China event that will take place for the first time December 1-3 2004 at the at the state-of-the-art Shanghai New International Exhibition Center (SNIEC) and at a similar time every two years following that. The show is designed to attract tissue makers, converters, executives, traders, analysts, distributors, buyers and suppliers.

Paperloop has hosted the popular original Tissue World event in Nice, France since 1993. This show has grown substantially over the years. The last show in March 2003 occupied 40% more floor space that its 2001 predecessor. A Tissue World Americas event, hosted by Paperloop for the first time in September 2002 in Miami proved successful too, drawing close to 1300 trade visitors from the Americas and elsewhere. Ria Van den Bogaert, Paperloop's Show Director for Tissue World said of the move into China, "Our current customers are very well aware that China represents a tremendous growth market for the tissue sector. Many of them have already set up, or are in the process of setting up, a presence in this key market."

Tissue World China will be tailored to the entire Far East market and exhibition space for the new event will extend to 3500 square metres. Paperloop expects to attract around 2000 attendees from all over the Far East region where both tissue usage rates and capacity are increasing steeply. RISI, Paperloop's economic forecasting division, recently reported, "The developing world (and China above all) will need to add significant amounts of tissue capacity each year. China will be the dominant force behind Asian capacity increases of 4% per year going forward."

Ian Johnston, Paperloop's President and CEO, described Paperloop's increasing involvement in tracking, reporting and assisting the tissue industry. "Tissue is a vibrant and dynamic industry due largely to the fact that it is very much driven by consumer preferences. We're working to fulfill a growing need for up-to-date market information on the sector worldwide. The current Tissue World shows work in parallel with Paperloop's Tissue World magazine and Tissue Monitor report to fulfill the information and networking needs of the global tissue community."
