Jim McLaren rejoins Paperloop

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 4, 2004 - Jim McLaren, a well-known journalist in the pulp and paper industry, has rejoined Paperloop as Editor for Wood Products and Timber News based in San Francisco.

In his new role, McLaren will be responsible for expanding Paperloop's news coverage of lumber, wood panel and timber news markets--a new editorial focus for Paperloop. McLaren previously served as News Editor of Forestweb.com, a position he held for nearly three years.

"We are very pleased that Jim has rejoined Paperloop's publications where he previously served 12 years as an editor on Pulp & Paper Week, International Wood Fiber Report, and PPI Asia News," said Will Mies, Editorial Director - Information Products.

"With this new initiative, Paperloop's news services will cover the entire spectrum of the paper/forest products industry," noted Rod Young, Senior Vice President - Information Products. "It will also complement RISI's long-established forecasting services in the wood products and timber market."

"The new editorial focus will strengthen the value of Paperloop's portfolio of information services to corporate subscribers in the forest products industry," according to Ian Johnston, CEO of Paperloop Inc. "These services comprise a full suite of information products for the industry, including breaking news filtered by grade and region, the industry's most comprehensive price and statistical databases, mill cost benchmarking and equipment, and RISI forecasts - all tailored to the client's choice of delivery - print, internet, or directly to our client's intranets or extranets."

In his new position, McLaren will be working closely with RISI's team of timber and wood products economists and Chris Lyddan, Executive Editor of International Woodfiber Report and Timberland Markets Report.

"I am happy to return to the premier news and information service for the paper/forest products industry and wood products/timber market," McLaren stated. "I believe Paperloop's new focus on lumber, wood panel and timber will provide a valuable service to those markets."
