Tissue World Americas dodges deadly hurricanes to register another successful event

BRUSSELS, Oct. 12, 2004 - Despite being sandwiched between Hurricane Ivan and Hurricane Jeanne, Tissue World of the Americas (TWA) attracted 1,300 highly qualified industry professionals to the Miami Beach Convention Center September 20-22, 2004.

According to Show Director Ria Van den Bogaert, the second biennial event surpassed the inaugural 2002 show in terms of the number of attendees, exhibitors and conference participants. "Given the fact that a devastating Hurricane swept Miami just a few days before the show and forecasters were predicting another would strike the area right after the event, we felt extremely lucky to even hold the event and attract over 1,300 dedicated tissue professionals who were willing to brave the elements," Van den Bogaert emphasized.

Van den Bogaert said one of the major attractions of Tissue World Americas was the excellent conference program that featured leading industry authorities providing valuable insights on the future of the tissues marketplace.

Show organizers said 105 exhibitors, representing a 60% increase over the 2002 event, were on hand to showcase their latest products and technologies. Meanwhile, the 1,350 attendees represented a 5% increase over the 2002 Show.

Other highlights of the show included presentations, roundtables and workshops by 37 industry experts on a wide range of critical issues revolving around innovation and technology. TWA is the North American version of the highly successful original Tissue World that takes place every two years in Nice, France. The Nice show attracts more than 160 exhibitors and 3,500 attendees and a new China Tissue World is being launched in December 2004. The next Tissue World Americas will be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Florida, March 22-24, 2006.

In addition to owning and managing the Tissue World events, in this sector Paperloop publishes Tissue World magazine, the Tissue Monitor and Nonwovens Markets newsletters, and a series of International Cost Benchmarking Reports.
