Paperloop expands wood products coverage with acquisition of Crow Publications

BOSTON, Mass., Sept. 7, 2005 - Paperloop announced today that it has acquired the assets of C.C. Crow Publications, Inc., a provider of prices and news for the North American lumber and panel markets. The Portland, Oregon-based Crow's was founded in 1921, making it the oldest market reporting organization in the North American softwood industry.

The acquisition expands Paperloop's extensive price collection and reporting capabilities, already considered to be the standard in the global pulp and paper industry. Commodity price data is business- critical information in industries like pulp and paper, where there is little price transparency due to the lack of public exchanges and use of private contracts. This puts buyers and sellers without objective market data at a disadvantage in price negotiations.

"The price collection expertise of our editors and economists, combined with the experience that Crow's has built over their 85-year history in the lumber and panel markets, is an unbeatable combination," commented Rod Young, Paperloop CEO. "We are thrilled to welcome the Crow's team on board, and look forward to working with them as we continue to expand our industry-leading suite of information products serving the global forest products markets."
