RISI acquires international forestry reports from Dana Publications
BEDFORD, Mass., Aug. 14, 2006 - RISI, the leading information provider for the global forest products industry, today announced the acquisition of two reports from DANA Limited, an international forest industry advisory and publishing firm based in New Zealand.
The reports are:
- The Tree Farm and Managed Forest Industry, a comprehensive analysis and comparison of forestry investment around the world. It covers more than 50 countries, and features country attractiveness ratings and case studies.
- The International Pulpwood Resource and Trade Review, an annual review of pulpwood and other resources, and historic, present and future international harvest trends. Currently in its 13th edition, the review has become an important tool for operators of existing tree farms, new plantations, woodchip importers/exporters, pulp production facilities and investors.
As part of RISI's expansion in the timber sector, Robert Flynn, a well-known expert in the timber industry, joined the company in April of 2006 as Director of International Timber. Co-author of The International Pulpwood Resource and Trade Review, Bob brings to RISI nearly 30 years' experience in the forest products industry, with an emphasis on international trade and wood products markets.
Dennis Neilson, Director and founder of DANA Limited and co-author of both reports, will continue to lend his expertise to the publications as a key contributor to the next editions. Both reports are in development now: The Tree Farm and Managed Forest Industry report is expected off-press in November; the Trade Review in early 2007.
"The acquisition of these two highly regarded reports is an important step in our strategic plan to achieve in the timber sector what we've done with the pulp and paper market: cover it worldwide," commented Rod Young, RISI's CEO. "The DANA titles plus Bob and Dennis' expertise will further strengthen RISI's already robust analytical capabilities within the timber sector."
Keith Balter, senior vice president of analytical and editorial products at RISI, stated, "The country-by-country detail of the DANA reports will provide RISI clients with the high-quality analysis needed to understand an increasingly global timber market."
