RISI expands European and Asian analytical and editorial staff


BRUSSELS and SHANGHAI, September 21, 2006 - RISI, the leading information provider for the global forest products industry, today announced that five new staff members have recently joined its Brussels and Shanghai locations. Four of of the new employees join the analytical staff and will contribute to RISI's mill intelligence content and coverage of the Asian graphic paper markets. The new member of the editorial staff will contribute to RISI's news and price coverage, including PPI This Week newsletter, the online Pulp and Paper News Service, and new Polish price coverage.


"Bringing these specialized individuals on board reflects our strategic commitment to widen the range of our content," said Keith Balter, RISI's Senior Vice President of Analytical and Editorial Products. "This new staff will enable us to further expand our benchmarking offerings as well as increase our coverage of Eastern European and Asian markets, which continue to be of growing interest for many of our customers."


New Analytical Staff


Portia Zhao, Benchmarking Analyst, Shanghai, comes to RISI from UPM-Kymmene (Changshu) Paper Industry Co., Ltd. in Shanghai, where she was Business Intelligence Analyst for China and the Asia-Pacific region. A native of China, Ms. Zhao holds a Master of Engineering degree in Pulp and Paper Technology from the Asian Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Economics degree in International Economics and Trade from the South China University of Technology, and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Pulp and Paper Technology from the South China University of Technology. In addition to Chinese, Ms. Zhao speaks fluent English and Thai.


Sandy Lu, Economist, Shanghai, will be working in the Asian Service helping with RISI's coverage of Asian graphic paper and pulp markets. Prior to joining RISI, Ms. Lu worked at CITTC, one of the biggest pulp traders in China. Ms. Lu did her undergraduate work at the University of Science and Technology East China, and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Cardiff, United Kingdom. She is fluent in English, Cantonese and the Shanghai dialect.


Jeanne Luo, Research Analyst, Shanghai, was most recently a Marketing Intelligence Manager for the Singapore-based RGM Group. Ms. Luo brings with her six years of industry experience and degrees in International Business Management and Economic Management Specialty from the Shanghai Normal University, as well as a Law degree from the East China University of Politics and Law. Ms. Luo is fluent in both Chinese and English.


Tea Tuuli, Benchmarking Analyst, Brussels, a native of Finland, has completed extensive research of the pulp and paper industry, and was most recently employed as Research Scientist, Pulp and Paper Laboratory, at Nippon Paper Industries Inc, Tokyo, before completing her Masters thesis on "Dynamic Behaviour of a Continuous Digester" at Oy Metsä-Botnia Ab, Joutseno Pulp Mill, Finland. Ms. Tuuli holds two Masters degrees, one a Master of Science in Economics from the Helsinki School of Economics, and the other a Master of Science in Technology from the Helsinki University of Technology. She is fluent in Finnish, English, French and Swedish.


New Editorial Staff


Piotr Gaber, Associate Editor, Brussels, a native of Poland, will be covering European news and prices, and will be working to add Poland to RISI's price coverage. Mr. Gaber most recently worked in the construction industry where he was Editor/Analyst for "Polish Construction Review," a weekly English-language publication and website. Holding a Masters degree in Management and Marketing from the Krakow University of Economics, Mr. Gaber speaks Polish, English and German.
