IFPTA charts new course for the future; forms strategic partnerships with RISI and Quint Strategies

BEDFORD, Mass., Dec. 6, 2006 (Press Release) - The International Forest Products Transport Association (IFPTA), the leading global association dedicated to the forest products marketplace, today announced major new initiatives to enhance its informational and educational offerings, increase membership, and provide new avenues for collaboration in the industry. To achieve these goals, the IFPTA has selected RISI to oversee the production of The IFPTA Journal and the biennial Membership Directory, and signed on Quint Strategies as its full service management company.

These new initiatives are in response to the association's growing success and international presence in the forest products logistics industry. Continuing its mission to enhance the interdisciplinary teamwork and communication among industry professions, each initiative is targeted to produce new opportunities for the variety of disciplines that represent the industry. Using an integrated marketing approach, these initiatives will allow the IFPTA to respond more quickly and efficiently to the unique needs of the industry and its members.

"It is our belief that the IFPTA can serve as a connection between the various disciplines and provide a platform where professionals can share their knowledge and experience with other members," explained Paul Doiron, IFPTA president. "This flow of information across the industry will enable companies to work together for mutual benefit," he added.

"The IFPTA stands in an excellent position to provide the industry with an invaluable collaborative framework," said Quint Strategies founder and President Wendy Parsley. "The integrated approach that Quint provides will fit perfectly with the IFPTA's growth plans," said Mr. Doiron. "Their experience in the industry gives us the ability to quickly and easily make functional changes that meet our overall strategic goals and direction."

In January 2007, RISI will assume its role producing the IFPTA Journal on a quarterly basis, providing more in-depth editorial coverage and industry information. Graeme Rodden, Editorial Director of Magazines at RISI, will manage the global editorial efforts at the IFPTA Journal in addition to his current involvement with Pulp & Paper and PPI. Rodden joined RISI in 2001 as European Editorial Director and Editor of PPI. With 25 years of experience in the forest products sector, Rodden has also held senior editorial positions at Pulp & Paper Canada as well as several other North American industry publications.

Rhiannon James-van Beuningen, Vice President of Editorial Products at RISI commented, "We are pleased to add the IFPTA Journal to our roster of successful publications. This partnership enables us to expand our reach into the transportation sector of the forest products industry and to leverage the extensive global industry experience of our editorial staff in growing the publication's circulation. We are committed to continuing to provide the exceptional editorial content that our readers have come to rely on with our magazines—Pulp & Paper and PPI—and our newsletters such as PPI This Week and Pulp & Paper Week, and applying this expertise to the IFPTA Journal."
