Dates, Locations Announced for RISI's Fall 2007 Conferences
BOSTON (BEDFORD), MA, May 15, 2007 - RISI today announced plans for their fall 2007 forest products industry events in North and Latin America. The Latin American Conference will take place in a new location and will include an inaugural Latin American CEO of the Year award. Both events will feature regional and global industry forecasts presented by RISI economists, guest speakers from leading industry organizations, plus CEO panel discussions on timely industry topics.
The 22nd annual North American Forest Products Conference will take place October 10 - 12, 2007 at the Omni San Diego Hotel in San Diego, California, USA. This conference hosts nearly three hundred attendees each year. Many of these attendees are from the largest forest products producers in the world, as well as from major end users, suppliers and investors, who rely on RISI's information when making strategic business decisions. This year's conference focuses on charting the course for North America's forest products industry.
The 2nd Latin American Pulp and Paper Outlook Conference will occur from November 28 - 30, 2007, at the Renaissance São Paulo Hotel in São Paulo, Brazil. Following the success of last year's inaugural event, this year's conference is expected to host hundreds of industry executives and will explore whether Latin America can sustain its competitive advantage. The event is supported by leading Latin American industry organizations such as ANDIPA, BRACELPA and ABTCP.
The 2007 Latin American Conference will also feature the first-ever Latin American CEO of the Year Award, which will be presented during the conference to a pulp and paper chief executive officer recognized by the financial community for his or her outstanding accomplishments.
The North American CEO of the Year Award has been presented annually since 1999. Past recipients include John Faraci of International Paper (2006), A.D. 'Pete' Correll of Georgia-Pacific (2005), Paul Stecko of Packaging Corp. of America (2004), Raymond Royer of Domtar Inc. (2003), Steve Rogel of Weyerhaeuser Co. (2002 and 2001), John Dillon of International Paper Co. (2000), and Michael Smurfit of Jefferson Smurfit Group (1999). The 2007 North American CEO of the Year award will be presented at the 22nd annual North American Forest Products Conference in San Diego. Europe's first CEO of the Year award was presented in March 2007 at the European Pulp and Paper Outlook Conference in Barcelona to UPM's Jussi Pesonen.
Rhiannon James van Beuningen, Vice President, Media Products, RISI, commented, "These two conferences follow a record-breaking year for RISI's events. The 2006 North American Conference broke all prior attendance records and the inaugural Latin American Pulp and Paper Outlook Conference far exceeded our expectations. The Latin American Conference and the opening of our São Paulo office highlight RISI's commitment to expanding our global reach. We are looking forward to continued growth though the remainder of 2007 and beyond."
