RISI to participate in first China timber investment seminar
BOSTON, MA, Feb. 28, 2008 - RISI, the leading information provider for the global forest products industry, today announced that they are co-organizing the first ever seminar focused on timber and timberland investing in China. The seminar - to be held in conjunction with the 4th Annual CWI Wood Based Panel Conference - will be held April 19-20 in Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, China. The seminar is being co-hosted by China Wood International and will focus on the growing movement of Chinese wood panel producers looking to partners to develop plantation resources within China. Topics of discussion will include: Legal issues, user rights certificates, timber market structure, growth rates, challenges facing foreign investors, outlook for timber supply/demand balance, timber pricing trends, etc.
Robert Flynn, RISI's director of international timber, who will be presenting during the seminar, commented, "Foreign investors are increasingly exploring options for timber investment opportunities in China. This seminar will provide information on plantation forestry investment in China, and introduce foreign companies to potential domestic partners for forestry development projects."
