Brazil's 2012 pulp exports were very in line with the previous year at 8.5 million tonnes, according to Brazilian Pulp and Paper Assn (Bracelpa) data released today. In December, Brazil exported 861,000 tonnes of pulp, 10.7% higher on a yearly basis and 18.6% more than in the previous month.
Last year's virgin fiber production totaled almost 13.8 million tonnes, a volume also stable compared to 2011. Meanwhile, domestic sales at 1.6 million tonnes increased by 5.9% year-over-year. Bracelpa's data also show that Brazilian pulp apparent consumption flattened at 5.8 million tonnes.
