SAO PAULO , March 7, 2013 (RISI) -
Brazilian tissue producer Carta Fabril has plans to become the largest tissue producer in the country and compete with global players in this market. The company, which currently produces only 50,000 tonnes/yr, has already signed a letter of intent with Metso for the supply of two paper machines (PM)s and has conducted project studies with Pöyry.
"The first phase involves a Real 400 million ($ 203 million) investment with 2 PMs of 60,000 tonnes/yr each, but our goal is to invest a total of $1 billion by 2024, enabling the company to have a 1 million tonnes/yr tissue capacity," Carta Fabril's financial VP, Marcos Cattan, told RISI.
