Brazil’s Suzano raises BEK pulp prices globally

SAO PAULO , Dec. 11, 2013 (RISI) -

Brazilian pulp and paper producer Suzano today announced that the company will globally increase its bleached eucalyptus kraft (BEK) pulp prices, effective in January. BEK pulp will be commercialized in Europe at $820/tonne, at $880/tonne in North America and at $720/tonne in Asia.

According to Suzano, three main drivers supported their decision: "The company has contracts for most part of the pulp that will be produced at Suzano Maranhão mill in 2014; forecast of low inventories levels in January; and the postponement of Montes del Plata pulp project startup".
