Munksjö to cut costs and 15 jobs at Billingsfors mill in Sweden

BRUSSELS , Jan. 25, 2013 (RISI) -

In the face of increasing raw material costs and the strengthening Swedish krona, Munksjö plans to trim costs at its Billingsfors specialty paper mill in southwestern Sweden by SEK 8.5 million ($1.3 million). As a result, the firm has started negotiations with employee representatives in order to cut 15 jobs at the site this year.

Just under 300 people work at the factory, which makes for some 275 full-time equivalent positions. These will be cut back to approximately 260, according to the proposed plan.
