New company Braxcel to build 1.5 million tonnes/yr BEK pulp mill in Tocantins, Brazil; startup scheduled for 2018

SAO PAULO , March 23, 2012 (RISI) - 

Companhia Brasileira de Celulose (Braxcel), controlled by the Brazilian GMR group, on Mar. 22 announced plans to build a 1.5 million tonnes/yr bleached eucalyptus kraft (BEK) pulp mill in the city of Peixes, Tocantins state, midwestern Brazil.

Braxcel estimates an investment of Real 4 billion ($2.2 billion) in the mill, which is scheduled to start up in the fourth quarter of 2018.
