News analysis: ‘Major divergence’ in BSK and BHK pulp producer inventories, buyers continue fight against January’s $20-30/tonne hikes



SAN FRANCISCO , Jan. 22, 2013 (RISI) - 

Worldwide producer inventories were unchanged overall in December, closing the month at 32 days-of-supply with bleached softwood kraft (BSK) and bleached hardwood kraft (BHK) stocks sharp moving sharply in opposite directions, the Pulp and Paper Products Council reported this morning.

A three day-of-supply increase in BSK could help buyers as they try to mute a $20-30/tonne hike while hardwood pricing initiatives were helped by a five-day drop, market participants said.
