Norske Skog permanently halts 225,000 tonne/yr LWC PM 4 at German mill

BRUSSELS , Dec. 20, 2013 (RISI) -

Norske Skog is stopping production on the 225,000 tonne/yr lightweight coated (LWC) paper machine PM 4 at its Walsum mill in western Germany today, according to a company spokesperson.

In October, Norske Skog announced that it would temporarily stop production on PM 4 from the second half of December, as a result of excess capacity on the coated mechanical paper market. Later that month, the firm said it had decided to permanently halt the machine.
