SAN FRANCISCO , Jan. 7, 2013 (RISI) -
North American pulp and paper rail freight in 2012 was down 2.1% from the year earlier to 486,159 carloads, the Association of American Railroads reported. In the 52nd week of the year ending Dec. 29, pulp and paper volume was down 3.9% from 2011 at 9,922 carloads.
Full year pulp and paper freight in the US was up 0.1% from 2011, Canada was 5.8% lower and Mexico was down 5.7%.
