Although China's demand is still dominated by recycled boxboard (which is mainly comprised of coated duplex board), virgin fiber based cartonboard has become an increasingly important component of the market over time. The virgin boxboard grades have been the main driver of overall boxboard growth in the last few years, especially after growth for the border market fell below 10% in 2006. In this text, ivoryboard is used when referring to bleached virgin fiber based cartonboard grades. In the Chinese market, this single generic term is equivalent to FBB/SBS, the grade terms most often used in the EU and North America.
