BRUSSELS , Aug. 14, 2014 (RISI) -
Europe's largest coated woodfree (CWF) paper producer by capacity Sappi will alter its business model in Germany, increasing its direct sales of CWF paper in sheets in the country, market sources report.
The firm has discussed this change of strategy with merchants in the country and the idea is to decrease the amount of indent business by doing direct business with larger buyers, and at the same time reinforcing the merchants' stock-holding position. Market sources said Sappi had made the move because it considered the indent business, where the merchant sells the paper but it is supplied directly from the paper producer, "unprofitable."
