SAO PAULO , Oct. 28, 2013 (RISI) -
Suzano Papel e Celulose today announced that the new Imperatriz 1.5 million tonnes/yr bleached eucalyptus kraft (BEK) pulp mill, in Maranhão state, northeast Brazil, will produce its first bale of pulp in December. "The Maranhão project will start up in December of this year, so we are accomplishing our target of being operative during the fourth quarter, and this is great news. We are now commissioning the plant and over 40% of it is already commissioned," said Suzano CEO Walter Schalka.
