BRUSSELS , Sept. 4, 2013 (RISI) -
Lessebo Bruk provisionally halted production of specialty pulp at its mill in Lessebo, southern Sweden, last week. The company is initiating negotiations with employee representatives regarding up to 34 job cuts.
Terje Haglund, co-owner and acting managing director of Lessebo Bruk, explained that the job cuts were announced as a precautionary measure. Since it is not possible to make temporary layoffs in Sweden, as is common in Norway and Finland when a company faces a weaker market situation, Lessebo Bruk wanted to start negotiations regarding job cuts in case they become necessary.
