Total Swedish production of paper and board (P&B) fell by 5.6% year on year to 10.8 million tonnes in 2013, according to figures from the Swedish Forest Industries Federation (SFIF). At the same time, the country's pulp production rose by 1.9% to 3.8 million tonnes last year.
The export value of the Swedish forest industry retreated by 2% year on year to SEK 120 billion ($18.7 billion). The export value of paper decreased by 3% to SEK 65 billion, while the export value of pulp remained fairly flat at SEK 17 billion. Swedish exports in general fell by 7% during 2013, which means the forest industry managed better, relatively speaking, the SFIF pointed out.
