SAN FRANCISCO , Feb. 21, 2014 (RISI) -
With a possible hit from severe weather conditions in the East, US corrugated box shipments declined by 0.9% in January from a year ago, while containerboard inventories jumped by 163,000 tons from the prior month, according to the latest industry statistics released today.
The decline in inventories was "44,000 ton more than the 119,000 ten-year (2004-2013) average inventory increase for January," noted Chip Dillon of Vertical Research Partners.
