(PPI Europe) -
Newsprint producers are pushing prices up for the second half of the year in the major western European markets. Even though some sellers and buyers are still battling over the final euros in some markets, it is clear that prices are mainly heading north this summer.
Papermakers are not getting the full increase they were after originally, however, so many expect to go for another price hike either later this year or at the start of 2014, depending on contract validities. Buyers, many of whom were not expecting prices to rise already during summer, are not happy about paying more for their paper and some fear prices will go up again next year as the full effects of the recent large-scale capacity closures in Europe hit the market.
