(PPI Latin America) -
PPI Latin America's February survey found unchanged prices for all recovered paper grades in the Brazilian market this month over last month. However, sources say recovered corrugated board (or old corrugated containers, OCC) suppliers are insisting on raising prices saying demand continues strong. "However, some industries took downtime on the Carnival holidays and thus balanced demand and supply," a buyer commented.
Many people were concerned about the Brazilian Carnival holiday on Feb. 12-13, but sources stated that it didn't affect recovered paper supply or deliveries. "People were expecting higher prices after Carnival, and in some regions people say it already increased by 4-6%, even though my prices are still the same. I'm resisting the price adjustment. There are some suppliers that are refusing to deliver material for the current prices, but others are working normally, and overall demand and supply are balanced," another source said.
