(PPI Pulp & Paper Week) -
Graphic paper price increases that rolled out in North America in July are having mixed success, sources said this week, with implementation on supercalendered paper (SC) going virtually unchallenged and some gains being realized on coated mechanical (CM) and coated freesheet (CFS), although not consistently and not across the board.
SC is currently the strongest of these grade sectors with a 10% year-to-date demand increase for high gloss products through May, according to the Pulp and Paper Products Council (PPPC). Price increases on SC-A/A+ and SC-B met "almost no opposition," as many industry participants had forecast last month.
