Amid steady market supply/demand fundamentals that producer sources say haven't fallen off with a seasonally slower time of demand, US effective list prices for most paper grade market pulp increased $5-15/tonne, completing a two-month phase-in of a $30 increase on benchmark northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) that started in January.
NBSK effective list prices rose to $900/tonne as producers that buckled on a level that was effective Jan. 1 completed their hike as of this week, contacts told PPI Pulp & Paper Week. Southern bleached softwood kraft (SBSK) hit $860/tonne.
