Caraustar awarded FSC and SFI certification for its URB mills

ATLANTA, GA, Feb. 2, 2012 (PRNewswire) - Caraustar Industries, Inc., one of North America's largest producers of uncoated recycled boxboard (URB), has recently achieved certification in the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)^TM Chain of Custody Standard for the following mills: Austell Boxboard Mill #2 in Austell, GA, Carotell Paperboard in Taylors, SC, Cincinnati Paperboard in Cincinnati, OH and Tacoma Paperboard in Tacoma, WA. Other Caraustar mills received their certification earlier, Austell Boxboard Mill #1 and Sweetwater Paperboard.

Caraustar is pleased to now have all six URB mills certified. This certification supports the continuation of sustainable fiber sourcing as the mills produce a 100% recycled paperboard product. A variety of grades and major markets are served from the mills, among them folding cartons, tubes and cores, gypsum facing papers, and specialty products.

These mills, and now all Caraustar URB mills, also received certification to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) ® Chain of Custody Standard. By achieving SFI certification, Caraustar joins a growing community of companies, land owners, and social and environmental organizations all committed to improving forest practices on a global scale.
