(Press Release) -
Favini, the innovative Italian paper manufacturer, has announced its participation in the international trade show for the packaging industry, Luxe Pack (Monaco, 23-25 October 2013, Stand VA13), to present the developments for Crush, the revolutionary line of ecological papers that has marked a turning point in the worlds of paper and packaging. Launched 12 months ago, the first and only paper to be made using agro-industrial waste has been an extraordinary success, outperforming sales forecasts by 425%, even though the company's budget was based on a considered view of market opportunities.
The success of Crush has led to important sales developments in 25 countries, including South Korea, the UK, Russia and China. Indeed, Crush is not just a highly ecological paper, but also a product that ensures optimal levels of print quality at competitive prices, which has drawn the interest of a number of prestigious brands. One such example is I Coloniali, which is using Crush for the packaging of its latest product line to enhance product value and demonstrate the brand's commitment to the environment.
Last year at Luxe Pack, Crush was recognized as a game changing product by a panel of experts, who acknowledged its innovation, environmental impact and affinity with the luxury market, earning CRUSH the LUXE PACK in GREEN Award, which is given to the company with the most innovative solution in ecological packaging.
Andrea Nappa, managing director for Favini, said, "Luxe Pack served as an important launch pad for Crush and provided our product with excellent visibility worldwide. We have always had great faith in the innovative potential of the entire product line, and the extraordinarily successful sales have confirmed that."
Crush has set the benchmark for eco-friendly paper. At the heart of its innovation is the use of agroindustrial waste, which replaces up to 15% of the cellulose derived from trees. After hundreds of hours of research and fine tuning, Favini has managed to transform byproducts of corn, citrus fruits, kiwi fruit, olives, almonds, hazelnuts and coffee beans into high quality paper. In line with Favini's commitment to protecting the environment, this new paper is FSC certified, manufactured using entirely self-generated green energy, and contains 30% post-use recycled fiber. Its carbon footprint is 20% less than equivalent Favini papers.
During Luxe Pack 2013, as well as Crush Favini will be presenting the collections of its elegant Majestic line, the new embossing effects of its Classy Covers, and all of the paper specialist's other lines for luxury packaging.
A company with a long history of innovation in paper manufacturing, Favini is a world leader in the market of industrial release paper and has significant market share in specialty paper with market leading products for the fashion, design and other luxury industries.
Favini has two manufacturing sites in Italy, near Venice and Milan, employing a total of 500 people and generating annual revenues of around €121 million (2012 figures).
Favini has always paid attention to ecology. In the 90s, Favini patented Shiro Alga Carta, eco-friendly paper made from algae. In October 2012, Favini launched CRUSH, a break-through paper made with by-products from organic products (corn, citrus and kiwi fruits, olives, almonds, hazelnuts and coffee beans) replacing as much as 15% of traditional wood pulps.
Favini's entire production process is scrupulously ecological; the cellulose used comes solely from regulated, well managed crops and is whitened using Elemental Chlorine Free (ECF) methods. Both of Favini's production facilities comply with the UNI EN ISO 9001, UNI EN ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.
Since 2008, Favini is controlled by Orlando Italy, a turnaround fund which has enabled the company to enter a new phase of growth and development.
