Montalvo launches dancer-based web tension controller

GORHAM, ME, Oct. 30, 2009 (Press Release) - The Montalvo Corporation, international specialists in industrial web control systems, has developed its DTI-3400 dancer controller/tension indicator with several unique features.

"It is the only dancer-based tension controller on the market that offers integrated load cell feedback and set point control," says president Edwin Montalvo.

It will simultaneously process signals from a pair of load cells and the dancer position sensor. It combines the storage and shock absorption capabilities of a dancer system, while accurately indicating web tension. It provides accurate and repeatable results under variable conditions.

The DTI-3400 accepts load cell input and provides an actual calibrated tension output for display purposes. Customers can also add a second I/P converter, enter a tension set point and the controller will adjust the dancer load to provide the desired level of tension.

Control is provided by inertia-based "Progressive PID" circuitry which regulates the output to the unwind brake and maintains the position of the dancer arm from full roll down to the core.

The D-3400 also features:
