Syktyvkar installing tissue PM at Komi Republic mill


   

BRUSSELS, April 25, 2008 (RISI) - Syktyvkar Tissue Group is in the final stages of installing a new Metso Paper tissue machine and a slitter/rewinder at its facility in the republic of Komi, Russia.

Startup of the new equipment is scheduled for July. The new crescent former machine, PM 2, will be able to manufacture up to 92 tonnes/day of tissue in a basis weight range of 13-28 g/m2, based on 100% virgin pulp. The mill's total tissue capacity will rise from 22,000 tonnes/yr to 54,000 tonnes/yr. Output will be sold on the Russian market.

Syktyvkar Tissue Group currently operates one machine, which produces tissue from recovered fiber in a basis weight range of 17-33 g/m2.
