Subburaj delays startup of greenfield mill in India

SINGAPORE, May 5, 2008 (RISI) - India's Subburaj Papers has pushed back the startup of a greenfield facility in Tirunelveli, in the southeastern state of Tamil Nadu.

The plant was originally due to come on stream this month, but trial runs have been postponed to September following a delay in the installation of a second-hand paper machine at the site.

Subburaj has revamped the 325 tonne/day printing/writing PM, which was purchased from the closed Domtar mill in Cornwall, Ontario, in Canada.

The Rupee 1.85 billion ($46 million) scheme also includes a 6.5 MW power plant from India's Triveni Engineering, as well as a new 320 tonne/day deinking line from Metso Paper.
