Troitskaya to kick off commercial production on PM at Kondrovo plant

BRUSSELS, May 02, 2008 (RISI) - Troitskaya has started commercial production of parchment base paper at the recently installed 20,000 tonnes/yr PM 2 at its facility in Kondrovo, the Kaluga region, Russia.

By September, the firm will transfer the production of paper grades from the mill's other machine, PM 1, to the new PM 2. Troitskaya will then install a size press on PM 1, which has a capacity of 30,000 tonnes/yr.

A company spokesman refused to disclose what kind of wrapping and specialty papers would be produced on the machine after the revamp. "At this point I can only confirm that we will continue to specialize on producing specialty papers since it is the only way for us to remain competitive in the market," he added.

After the rebuild, the mill hopes to reach its total capacity level of 50,000 tonnes/yr of specialty papers.
